General Calculators
AboutFormulaFeedbackPrint
Body Surface Area is a measurement used in medical practices to estimate the total surface area of the human body.
It is commonly used to determine appropriate medication dosages, especially for chemotherapy, as well as to assess physiological parameters like cardiac output, renal function, and metabolic rate.
BSA provides a more accurate representation of metabolic mass than body weight alone, making it useful for dosing medications and assessing physiological functions. BSA calculations can be complex and require accurate measurements of height and weight. It does not account for variations in body composition, such as muscle mass or fat distribution.
